Tecogen Sells Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System to Chronic Care Facility in Far Rockaway, New York

WALTHAM, Mass., April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale of a CM-75 combined heat and power (CHP) system to a Far Rockaway, NY 240 bed chronic care nursing facility. The Tecogen unit will provide electricity, space heat and domestic hot water at a far lower cost and carbon footprint than the conventional alternative of utility-purchased electricity and onsite boiler operation.

Tecogen's 75 kilowatt system is expected to reduce the facility's energy costs between $60K and $70K annually, net of service and other operating costs.

"Elder care facilities are one of our core markets," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "They are particularly heavy users of electrical and thermal energy, which becomes a serious cost problem when the communities they serve are located in regions with high electric rates. CHP is a perfect solution, as they are able to self-generate a substantial portion of their electrical and heating needs substantially reducing their overall utility bills."
