Tecogen Joins New York State and Local Leaders at the Unveiling of Bates Troy's New Clean Energy Cogeneration Power System
WALTHAM, Mass., May 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) announced today it is joining Bates Troy, Inc. and state, county and local leaders at the May 27, 2015 unveiling of their new Tecogen Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System. The Tecogen system will generate over 90% of the power required for the Binghamton, NY property. It is providing electricity, heat, domestic and operational hot water for the washing facility. It will lower operational energy costs and significantly reduce the production of criteria pollutants, the compounds contributing to smog. The system also provides emergency back-up power to this state-designated critical facility. Bates Troy provides clean linen to over 3,000 patient beds per day. As a provider of an essential health care service, the company is required to be prepared for emergencies such as loss of power. The Tecogen system will take over when utility power is lost and keep the facility operational during outages like those experienced in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy or, more applicable to the Bates Troy operation, the Susquehanna River Floods of 2005, 2006 and 2011. "Participating in this unveiling and open house event provides Tecogen an opportunity to show our technology to other guests interested in this cost-effective, environmentally friendly technology for their facilities," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "We are proud to be a part of the on-going environmental efforts being taken by Bates Troy." About Tecogen In business for over 20 years, Tecogen has shipped more than 2,000 units, supported by an established network of engineering, sales, and service personnel across the United States.
